George Edwards served with ‘Hitch’ and was awarded the DSM and MID for his remarkable coolness as the Oerlikon gunner in a series of actions through the war.
His medals have been put up for auction at Spinks – definitely worth a bid if you are at all interested in the legacy of Coastal Forces.
Sadly the Trust does not have a fund to acquire these sorts of things – but it would be wonderful if one of our supporters or Friends could find a way of preserving them for us…
