The Coastal Forces Heritage Trust is committed to preserving the rich maritime history of the UK while promoting educational initiatives that celebrate this heritage. By offering a range of resources and engaging with the community, CFHT can provide well informed and relevant support for schools, colleges, Cadet groups and universities striving to enhance their curriculum and foster a love of history among students.
Working with schools, colleges and universities
The Trust can advise and support education projects that span various topics, from naval history to marine conservation and engineering. In addition, the Trust is keen to collaborate with educators to create bespoke learning materials tailored to meet specific educational outcomes.
Unique access and relevance
Furthermore, CFHT offers access to the Coastal Forces Night Hunters Museum and a wealth of archival material, including personal accounts from those who served in the Coastal Forces. By incorporating these primary sources into classroom discussions, students can gain unique insights into historical events, prompting critical thinking and analysis.
By harnessing local history and expert knowledge, CFHT encourages students to explore and appreciate their coastal heritage. Engaging with the Trust not only enhances student learning experiences but also makes history relevant and accessible, allowing young people to connect with the achievements of past generations and envision their future roles as custodians of heritage.
Practical stuff
Our new Monument Project offers some unique opportunities to engage with young people aged 12 – 25. Throughout 2026 we will be running a series of tailored events aimed at inspiring the next generation of boatbuilders, engineers, artists, sculptors, blacksmiths, metalworkers, naval architects, seafarers… Come along to our various sites in Hampshire and meet the people doing this stuff, see where they work, listen to the stories that motivate them and get involved. Watch out for our programme here.
We are keen to work with education providers on specific projects and materials. If you would like to collaborate with us on an education project, please contact us here.
