It has been a busy Christmas period for the Monument Project teams. Amy has produced Maquette No 3 – she has adjusted the relative scales of the boat and figures, brought the bows down and refined her initial thinking about the wave structures.
Down on the Hamble, the team at the Elephant Boatyard have been busy constructing the plug for the hull section to Amy’s revised dimensions. The next phase will be to build the transom and deck.
On the drawing board, volunteer Steve Winter has been refining the design for the baseplate and the steel supports that will hold everything in place. The team at Pritchard Architecture have delivered surveys for the topography and utilities on the proposed site at Victory Gate in the Portsmouth Historic Quarter.
The fundraising appeal team have been busy too, engaging with yacht clubs and the business community across the country. We now have a foothold in the social media scrum, with Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter) and LinkedIn profiles. Please ‘like’ and follow us on your social media and donate using the links on this website.
A huge ‘shout out’ to the lovely people who have donated so generously in support of this project so far, and to our partners who are helping to bring the idea to reality – a true team effort!
